87. Do you believe there's a generation gap? Describe the differences between your generation and others. (Denison University )
Times past fast and as time passes development happens, people grow, technology grows and everything starts to expand. Everyone from our generation will say that the coming generation and our generation have a gap. Not only that but even our parent’s generation and our generation have a huge gap. My parent’s generation had television with black and white screen. They had cameras with black and white screen. Everything was black or white during that time. They used to roam around the city in motor bikes and autos. India at that point had probably just completed ten to twenty years of independence. Every state was recovering itself since it was devastated after the British left them. My parents lived during the period of time when India did not have a good economy and it was in a very poor state. They had to set up their own business, not many people could afford the United States and they had to live with limited resources. Today if I see my generation, we have a lifestyle much better than them. We have computers, colored television, iPhone, iPad etc. Most of my generation is spendthrift. They spend money, drink booze, party and basically are just pampered to the very limit. People are on computers 24/7, and everything is available on the internet. When I ask my dad, “How was it like without technology?” He replies, “I am so happy that there was no technology because I interacted more, enjoyed more and most of all I was more physically active.” I had to agree with him, people in the modern world are increasingly facing obesity, dyslexia, heart problems. All these diseases have seemed to increase in my generation. However I feel as though as the generations are coming along, people are becoming less active as they either on their laptops or watching television. There is technology haunting us everywhere. Small children like my brother are getting spectacles. Even though the world is advancing, the people are no more advancing with it.
